Who is the Founder of Tyunin’s Breakthrough, Inc.?
DeVonna Joy Petree is the founder of Tyunin's Breakthrough, Inc., a mother of one and
advocates to raise awareness in the community about the struggles of being a single
mother. See Founder's Message below.
Who is Tyunin?
Tyunin is the founder’s mother. She is a single mother of four children and has battled
with substance abuse for over 30 years.
Is Tyunin still alive?
Yes, she is still alive and is constantly faced with adversity as she continues to ward against
her substance addiction. Tyunin continues to share her wisdom with other women who
struggle with their recovery in an effort to aid her situation. Her motto is “People like me
make the world go around, all I can do is try the best that I can and pray that people
would use me as an example to make better decisions in life”
When was Tyunin’s Breakthrough, Inc. Founded?
Tyunin’s Breakthrough was founded August 2006. We started providing services to the
community January 2007.
What Services does Tyunin’s Breakthrough, Inc. Provide?
Services provided include counseling, job readiness, self-empowerment sessions,
parenthood support groups, financial literacy, community outreach and toiletry assistance.
In addition, we have a prevention and awareness program to fight against teen-pregnancy,
HIV (AIDS) and HPV (Human Papillomavirus) and we hope to implement an independent
living program, soon!
How is Tyunin’s Breakthrough, Inc. funded?
Tyunin’s Breakthrough, Inc. is funded by special events, corporate contributions, earned
income, in-kind, individual donations and we are currently seeking funding from private
foundations.
Is Tyunin’s Breakthrough, Inc. a tax-exempt nonprofit organization?
Yes. All contributions to Tyunin’s Breakthrough, Inc. are tax-deductible.
Do you provide shelter or day care services?
At this time we do not provide shelter or day care services. However, our goal is to offer
these services by May 2010.
Does Tyunin’s Breakthrough, Inc. serve single fathers?
Yes. Single fathers are encouraged to participate in our programs. We do not discriminate
against anyone, however, our mission is geared towards single mothers and at-risk youth.
